1、other(前加定冠词the）用于两人或两事物中的另一个，而another用于不定数目中的另一个，如i have finished this book, please give me another
2、只要作者或说话人在上文中未明确提出要注意两件事，就不能用the other代替another，如to know is one thing, to teach is another
3、another（由an+other)构成，大多数用于单数，而other用于单复数均可，视需要而定，others是代词复数，如some say yes, and others say no
4、joe is walking along the other side of the street，乔正沿着街道另一侧步行，（街道只有两侧，故另一侧不能用another side)
5、every other是每隔一天的意思，比如on the other hand, they have a game every other day，另一方面，他们每隔一天有一次比赛
6、anothe有时用于复数名词前，表示另外再...之意，如the meat has to cool for another five minutes肉还得再煮五分钟
